While the skirmishes in Taney County during the Civil War were deadly and destructive, the aftermath of these events actually impacted the region more deeply for decades. The impact of the Civil War and its aftermath in Taney County was the focus of a discussion by local historian Brad Melton at the White River Valley Historical Society. The hour-long presentation was part of the Society’s quarterly meeting which was open to the public as well as members. Nearly 60 attendees enjoyed refreshments and a tour of the WRVHS’ current exhibit, “Ozark Romance”, followed by a brief business meeting and Melton’s presentation.
