The White River Valley Historical Society is hosting a free walking tour of historic Taneyville on Saturday, May 16th. The tour will include a look at vintage photos for a “then and now” comparison as well as stories about the town from local residents.

“We’re excited to explore the town and help others see how it used to look”, stated Marilyn France, chair of the WRVHS Historic Sites committee, and tour guide for the event. “We encourage anyone interested in the history of the town to come, and hope that others will bring their own pictures of Taneyville.”

The tour will begin at 1:00 p.m., with a rain postponement date set for May 30th.  Participants should park on the east side of Grand Avenue, in front of the old Casey Store at the corner of Grand Avenue and Park Street. Carpooling is recommended.  For detailed directions, please contact WRVHS at 417-546-2210.

Thank you. Could you name a few families that lived in Taneyville?
