Philanthropist, longtime businessman, and author of “Hicks from the Sticks” from Bradleyville, Missouri is set to appear at the Branson Centennial Museum.
The public is invited to a free presentation at the Branson Centennial Museum on Tuesday, August 19 from 12:00–1:00 PM featuring Leon Combs, accomplished entrepreneur, community leader, and best-selling author. Born in Forsyth, he became Jostens most successful yearbook salesman, then purchased a St. Louis secretarial school and later founded a school for truck driver training. In addition to a book of short stories and memories about growing up in the rural Ozarks, Combs published “Hicks from the Sticks,” about Bradleyville’s legendary basketball team that had a 64-game winning streak and had three state championships in the 1960s. He self-published the basketball book, that became a number one bestseller on Amazon for the state of Missouri 18 weeks in a row.

“Leon is a local treasure, historical expert, and longtime supporter of our local museum and historical society,” said Trish Trimble, Managing Director of the White River Valley Historical Society. “We are thrilled he has agreed to share his wit, wisdom, and work with historical preservation as a Tuesday Talk speaker this month.”
The Tuesday Talk series is presented free-of-charge by the Branson Centennial Museum and White River Valley Historical Society. Since 2018, various topics of local and historical interest have been presented by knowledgeable speakers every month on the third Tuesday. The Museum is located in historic Downtown Branson at 120 South Commercial Street.
