“Agricultural Roots” will be the theme of The White River Valley Historical Society’s newest exhibit, scheduled to open mid-May at the Society’s building in Forsyth. The original exhibit is being designed, and setup, by members of the WRVHS, and will feature photos, as well as various farm implements and memorabilia, on agricultural topics ranging from farm life to FFA to the county fair.

“While we have many items and pictures for certain parts of this exhibit, we could use some additional things, particularly regarding the fair, FFA, and 4-H,” stated Managing Director Leslie Wyman. “We’re inviting the public to bring in anything on this theme for us to borrow for the two months of the exhibit. We’d also love to hear stories on this subject, such as what it was like to grow up on a farm, how the fair differed ‘back then’ from today, and what kind of projects 4-H participants were involved in locally.”

Arrangements to borrow photos or items for this display must be made by May 11th in order to give members time to incorporate them into the exhibit, Wyman said. Photos can be scanned and returned immediately to the lender if desired. Call 417-546-2210 to make arrangements, or for more information on the WRVHS.

The White River Valley Historical Society is located at 297 Main Street, Forsyth, across from the Judicial Facility, with a museum, research library, and bookstore/gift shop. Regular operating hours are 10am to 4pm, Monday through Friday, with no admission charge. The Society is also one of four entities involved in the Branson Centennial Museum, which is currently featuring the “Before It Was Branson” exhibit at 101 Veteran’s Blvd (corner of Business 65 and W Hwy 76) in downtown Branson.
