The sanctuary of the Community Presbyterian Church in Forsyth was filled with music and stories of religious events in the Ozarks’ past on Sunday, March 13th, during the White River Valley Historical Society’s ‘Gospel Sing’ program. Over 140 people attended the event, with 10 different choirs and church groups from the region performing favorite hymns. Songs ranging from old favorites to more contemporary versions were presented, showcasing the diversity of music styles of the various denominations represented. Following the program, guests toured the current “Religion” exhibit at the WRVHS next to the church, and sampled refreshments including Scripture Cake, which included “1 Samuel 25:18, Numbers 17:23, and Judges 14:18” as part of its’ ingredients.
