Inside Needs

Upstairs


  1. Finish rewiring of west side of building
  2. Install baseboards on south and west side
  3. Install central heating
  4. Remove loose plaster, finish all walls, and repaint
  5. Air conditioning COMPLETED but future upgrade may be needed
  6. Redo floor
    1. remove old wood floor
    2. install plywood sub floor over entire floor area
    3. install new wood floor over entire floor area
  7. New floor plan for more efficient use of space
    1. display space for artifacts and photographs PARTIALLY COMPLETED
    2. smaller kitchen area with stove
    3. file cabinet area
    4. computer area COMPLETED
  8. Install two or four ceiling fans with light kits
Downstairs


  1. Remove closet and remaining framing
  2. Remove bathroom
  3. Install new electrical box and wiring
  4. Install lights and spotlights to highlight graffiti
  5. Repair ceilings
  6. Renovate front room. Originally used as the office, in later years it was converted to a cell. Depending on quality of graffiti, will be either an office again, or an exhibit cell like the other rooms.
  7. Replace two doors into other rooms
  8. Windows
    1. open up blocked windows
    2. replace three large and 6 small windows
  9. Replace bars on windows and doors
  10. Replace two outside doors PARTIALLY COMPLETED building is secure with modern door, would like period door in future
  11. Reconstruct at least one cell area for exhibit. Use other rooms for museum space.

Outside Needs

  1. Clean surface of building PARTIALLY COMPLETED
  2. Repair stucco
  3. Repair both landings with concrete finish
  4. Paint buildings and railings
  5. Replace east steps COMPLETED
  6. Replace railing on east landing
  7. Lay concrete slab to connect steps and ramp
  8. Build railing between ramp and steps
  9. Fill in/Close off lower steps on east side
  10. Repair retaining wall
  11. Remove and replace lower sidewalk with water run-off capability to north and west
  12. Seal seams in metal flashing at roof line COMPLETED
  13. Install lights on south side of building COMPLETED
  14. Do something about upper south doorway, currently blocked
    1. paint false door
    2. install old fashioned screen doors on both doorways
  15. Remove old fire escape (replace?) COMPLETED
  16. Replace turbine on roof
  17. Remove stucco from pillars; paint
  18. Install permanent sign at driveway
  19. Improve south parking lot, driveway; gravel circle drive
  20. Paint large sign over south doors
  21. Install permanent flag pole
  22. Landscape NEARLY COMPLETED
  23. Storage building on north end of lot
