Greetings from the Ozarks

Tourist Cabin Display

Tourist Cabin Display

May 10th – June 18th, 2010

From Harold Belle Wright to “The Strip” we took a look at tourism in the Ozarks. The original exhibit called “Greetings from the Ozarks” was collected and designed by Historical Society members. The vintage teardrop camper, on loan from a local family, featured a custom-fitted double bed and a flip-up kitchen with gas burners, sink and icebox. A replica 1915 tourism camp lodging room showcased an authentic steamer trunk once owned by a member of President Dwight Eisenhower’s staff. Hundreds of images and postcards of the area’s past and present tourism attractions were part of the display. Vintage souvenirs included a double-peacock chenille bedspread and lots of “hillbilly” items.
