Bald Knobber Study Group Scheduled

The White River Valley Historical Society  is now accepting registrations to attend two free educational events focused on the Bald Knobber vigilante groups of the area. Beginning Bald Knobbers, a program that provides details on the Taney, Christian, and Douglas county activities, will be presented on Saturday, May 7th. The free event will begin at 9:00am at the Society, which is located at 297 Main Street in Forsyth (across from the Judicial Center).

Registration is also open for the Bald Knobber University study group. The group will meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month from May through November, 6:00–8:00pm at the WRVHS. The group will explore a wide range of topics concerning the vigilantes over the year, ranging from a look at the “main players” to what caused the three groups to form, and how their actions continue to impact the region in modern day.

Due to space limitations, registration is required for both events. Reservations may be made by calling the Society at 417–546–2210, or completing a registration form online.
